As a Christian family, we make sure our kids are exposed to our beliefs. I say expose as that’s basically all a parent can do. The rest is up to the child. ( I have friends whose parents were devout Christians and took them to church regularly as kids and they still grew up to be atheists).
Last night while praying with Mikhail, I asked him if there was anything he would like to say to God. Whether it was thanking him or asking him for something. He started his prayer with thanks for the day and mentioned the things he did during the day. Then out of the blue, he said, ‘God, please help Lisa’s baby, Emma to eat good…like Treyton.’ Lisa is our family friend who has a month old daughter. We attended her baby shower last Sunday and I don’t know if he overheard her discussing her daughter’s eating habits. Regardless, it was still a cute and bloggable moment. (bloggable is my made-up word by the way).
Here are two prayers that I composed for the boys. One is for their bed time at night and the other is for their naps.
While the sun is overhead,
I will nap here in my bed.
No more playing, no more noise,
it’s rest time so no more toys.
Bless my nap dear God I pray,
for each and every single day.
bless each napping boy and girl
and all the kids around the world.
As I lay down my sleepy head,
on my soft and sleepy bed.
Thank you God for the day
that I had to run and play.
Thank you for friends and family,
that mean so very much to me.
guide us safely through the night,
till we awake to morning light.
