The New Way To Say It. Pt I

With our ever growing technological world and our dependence on it, words and their meanings are disappearing as fast as fresh baked bread in my house.  The sayings and expressions our parents used to say to us have now lost their relevance.  ‘Never look a gift horse in the mouth’, which means that when someone gives you something for free, don’t examine it, just accept it.  Try telling that to your kid and see the blank stare you get. So after some thought, I have decided to compile a list of popular sayings as told to me by my elders.  Idioms or proverbs or just expressions.  Whatever you wish to call them.  I have revised them so they apply to today’s world.

Never Look A Gift Horse In The Mouth – This would never fly anymore so I made it Never Kick The Tires Of A Gift Car.  meaning, when your parents buy you a car, just accept it.  Don’t say, “A Ford Dad?  I wanted a Honda!”

You Never Miss The Water Till The Well Runs Dry – That’s self explanatory but with everything being about internet these days, I changed it to, You Never Miss The Internet Till There’s No Wifi.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find – No one really looks for a good man anymore.  Women look for a man for all the wrong reasons.  Good guys finish last.  With Viagra being the magic pill, it’s A Hard Man Is Good To Find.

You Are Known By The Company You Keep – That’s changed to You Are Known By The Stuff You Tweet.    Ask any celebrity. They have tweeted some stuff that came back to haunt them.

Eat All Your Food To Grow Up Big And StrongDon’t eat all that! You will get fat!

Wait Until Your Dad Gets HomeWait until daddy gets off the computer or finish watching sports.

Don’t Tell Anyone What I’ve Told You – Don’t ‘share’ on social media

Show Me Your Company and I’ll Tell You Who You AreShow me your Facebook friends and I’ll tell you who you are.

Don’t give up your day job.   Nicki Minaj gave up like what, 18 jobs? Well she was fired, but now look at her.  So yes, give it up and start a Youtube or Tiktok account. (ask Jake Paul)
